From Elizabeth Cassone of Windswept by the Sea in Bridgehampton:
Windswept by the Sea isn’t your average Hamptons salon — and that’s the whole point. I’ve been out here since 1994, and from day one I wanted to create a one-on-one space that feels as relaxed and easy as a beach day.
My first salon was in Watermill in the ‘90s, and I made sure it was a place where anyone could truly unwind.
That same laid-back vibe lives on in my Bridgehampton spot today: reggae playing, salty air energy, no pressure to be anything but yourself.
I’m a master cutter and colorist, and I believe in real training. I started in NYC, then went to London to study with Vidal Sassoon and Jingles International.
I taught, traveled, and did platform work all over England, France, and Italy before bringing those techniques back to the East End.
Hair painting is my signature. I love combining foil highlights and balayage to get that sun-kissed, weathered, Hamptons vibe. It’s all about depth, dimension, and natural movement — like the light in a painting.
I’m also known for short, modern cuts. No teased, old-fashioned styles here. My approach is effortless and organic, perfect if you want something modern but real.
It’s a private, one-chair salon. Most days it’s just me, though my daughter Sophia sometimes acts as receptionist. That means every visit is personal, thoughtful, and unrushed.
I don’t do perms or texture changes. I’m all about enhancing what you have and making natural hair look its best. Blowouts? Only for clients getting cuts or color. I’m honest about what works and what doesn’t, but I always want you leaving happy.
When you sit in my chair, it’s about more than just hair. It’s about making you feel at ease. I take time to connect, listen, and create an experience that’s as personal and comforting as the style itself.
PS - Wetsuit optional.
