From Chef Nick Reisini, of Honest Plate:
Most people want to eat well and feel great, but it's getting harder to do that on your own. Between busy schedules and questionable ingredients everywhere, it's a real challenge. That's what our café is about - making healthy eating simple and actually enjoyable.
We're open Thursday through Monday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Our menu changes with the seasons because that's when ingredients taste best, plus we always have fresh smoothies and two signature dishes – a turkey sandwich and a hamburger – that have people driving out of their way to get them.
Our house-smoked turkey sandwich has ruined regular deli meat for a lot of people. I take local, organic turkey breast, season it with just salt and Hungarian paprika, then smoke it for two hours. The microgreens come from our own growing setup, and it's served on fresh sourdough with house-made aioli using local eggs and avocado oil.
We don't use any seed oils - only avocado oil, coconut oil, and beef tallow for cooking. When you taste the difference, you understand why we go to all this trouble.
Our signature burger is what a burger should be.
While everyone else does brioche, I make homemade potato buns because I love a good potato bun.
It's grass-fed beef with organic cheese, pickled shallots we make in-house, and our house aioli.
For vegetarians, our mushroom patty is made fresh with mushrooms, black beans, quinoa, and flaxseed meal we mill ourselves.
Our burgers come with a side of Neapolitan fries, which I was known for making at Dopo. They’re triple-cooked in avocado oil. Rosemary, thyme, and lemon are added. And then it’s finished with pecorino cheese.
Our sandwiches pair nicely with an Iced tea sweetened with local honey.
