The Philosophy

When you walk into Barryville General Market in Southampton, you're entering our vision of what a food shop should be — what we call healthy-ish.

We've created the largest selection of organic, gluten-free, vegan, and sugar-free food options out East, but we're not dogmatic about it.

You'll find nostalgic treats like Fluff and Tic Tacs sitting next to peanut butter and non-nut spreads because we believe in balance. It's a highly personal curation — things we actually want to eat.

The Local Network

Every morning, Chef Nick Reisini from Honest Plate in Hampton Bays delivers fresh-made food —sandwiches, salsa, breakfast items— most of which are organic. We don't just stock these producers; we've built relationships with them. 

Big Fresh Bakery sourdough bread has a cult following — we’ve been known to sell out the day it's delivered. Her banana-based sourdough, cookies, and cinnamon buns are incredible.

The Cookery supplies our gluten-free muffins. 

Lynda Sylvester's Dreamy Coffee comes from our long Sag Harbor connection. She has a tremendous local following.

The Soul-Satisfying Soup

Our chicken vegetable soup has already become a Hamptons classic — organic chicken, vegetables, and lots of dill. People literally drive from East Hampton and the North Fork just for this soup. It's the kind of thing that tastes like childhood, but better because it's made with such care. We sell it hot and in mason jars to take home.

The Atmosphere

Movies play silently on the wall (like Breaking Away), while our special BG playlists create the soundtrack. Staff members genuinely want to talk about food and wellness — they're not just clerks. The whole space feels fun, alive, experiential, and completely intentional.

Inside Tip 🪄

Don't just grab coffee and a pastry up front and call it a day. The real treasures are hidden throughout the space.

There's a room in back filled with supplements, powders, and wellness products.

Our freezers contain organic and gluten-free options, frozen fruits for smoothies, and good-for-you versions of everyday items.

Even the pet section offers the healthiest foods and treats available.

And yes, we've got the best-curated beer selection out East hidden in the back.
