The Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the fabric of the village.
Housed in a beautiful historic home of a whaling business owner, it tells the story of Sag Harbor from the 1700s through its heyday as a whaling hub β portraits of significant citizens, garments, scrimshaw, harpoons, trypots, and whaling paraphernalia across four rooms.
Open April to mid-October, the museum has been in operation for over 80 years. A lot of people don't know how Sag Harbor developed from whaling into what it is today. This is where you find out.
