If you're looking for a nice date night in Sag Harbor, may we suggest dinner followed by a movie.

We like Il Cappuccino, a Sag Harbor staple, serving classic Italian cuisine since 1973.

Whether you grab a seat at the wooden bar or settle into one of the cozy dining areas, you’ll be surrounded by an old-school charm -- right down to the hanging Chianti bottles that have stood the test of time.

Here, you can’t go wrong with the restaurant's signature garlic knots or chicken parmigiana.

The garlic knots are crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, bursting with texture and flavor. Each bite delivers flecks of salty cheese, sweet minced garlic, and rich olive oil -- a great start to your meal.

The chicken parm is simply delicious -- a well-seasoned, crispy cutlet, layered with melted cheese and a sweet, well-balanced tomato sauce. Trust us, you'll be saying “yum” or something similar -- just like we did.

And with a side of pasta, you wouldn't be faulted for having thoughts of a shared spaghetti moment a la Lady and The Tramp.

For dessert, we would have recommended the homemade cannoli -- a crispy, fried wonton-like shell filled with sweet ricotta cream, chocolate chips, and rainbow sprinkles. But at $10, it’s a bit steep.

So here, it's take the yum, leave the cannoli -- and then head to Sag Harbor Cinema, the historic movie house which unspooled its first film in 1919 and was beautifully restored in 2021 after a devastating fire in 2016.

The theater is a haven for cinephiles, showcasing both timeless classics and the latest critically-acclaimed releases (which are sure to be nominated come awards season).

Inside Tip 📌

Afterwards -- for those who want to discuss the movie over a drink -- move upstairs to The Green Room, the cinema’s third-floor bar and terrace, for a relaxed and memorable way to end the night.

We mean, who doesn't like talking about The Brutalist over a creamy, minty cocktail called A Christmas Story?
