A Special Evening

The Martha Graham Dance Company is building a new solo at The Church -- and you can watch it take shape.

Lloyd Knight, the company's lead dancer, will perform a work-in-progress choreographed by Jamar Roberts with live music by Stahv Danker.

The piece draws from archival fragments of a 1938 Graham work thought to be lost: a one-minute silent film, original poetry and pieces of the score.

The finished solo will enter the company's repertory for its 100th season.

This is the first look, and part of The Church's exhibition Martha Graham: Collaborations, on view January 18 - March 22.
