A recommendation from Eric Peele, of Page restaurant, Sag Harbor:
After a day on the golf course at Greenport, instead of heading straight home, I always make a point to visit my favorite restaurant in the area: The Frisky Oyster. This gem has been my go-to spot for over ten years, and the quality has remained impressively consistent throughout that time.
There's good reason for the exceptional quality. The chef-owner built his credentials at the prestigious Inn at Little Washington, a Relais & Chateaux property with three Michelin stars.
That fine dining background is evident in every dish that comes out of the kitchen, though the atmosphere remains unpretentious and welcoming.
Everything on the menu is amazingly good, but you absolutely must try their signature friskafella oysters β a clever play on Oysters Rockefeller, with a lot of love for garlic.
The chef's commitment to using North Fork local products shines through in every dish, showcasing the incredible bounty of Long Island's agricultural and maritime offerings.
Unlike many casual North Fork establishments, The Frisky Oyster offers a sophisticated dining experience reminiscent of Manhattan's better restaurants.
This is not a T-shirt and shorts kind of place. The space is long and narrow with padded walls for sound absorption, creating an cozy, classy atmosphere that's perfect for conversation over an exceptional meal. They also offer a few tables outside.
The restaurant features a great little bar area, though it's compact β like everything about this place. The Frisky Oyster is not large, which contributes to its charm but also means that reservations are absolutely essential.
