Sage & Madison -- a 1797 landmarked home and barn turned luxury shopping destination -- carries a lot of beautiful things. But one of their bestsellers comes in a jar.
Sag Harbor Honey, made from over 50 hives across 15 acres on the East End, is available in original, creamed, and flavored varieties ($7β$35). It's local, it's handmade, and it flies out the door as fast as they can stock it.
The backstory is just as sweet as the product: beekeepers Sofia and John Witzenbocker started with a balcony garden in Queens, expanded to fruit trees, and got into bees when they realized someone had to pollinate everything.
Their first hive arrived while they were on their honeymoon -- John's dad had to shake 10,000 bees into place. Today they manage over 50 hives across 15 acres on the East End and created a gift most in-demand.
