So, have you spent any time in Industry City? The guy who created Chelsea Market, he sold it to Google. Then he took that same concept and relaunched it in Brooklyn.
Same boutique food and retail energy, but scaled up big, like 50 to 75 times bigger. Twelve massive buildings, six alleyways, and enough happening that you could spend a week there and still miss half of it.
The owner is a friend. Sen actually catered his daughter’s engagement party out here in Southampton.
One of the anchors is Japan Village, created by the same folks behind Sunrise Mart, the East Village Japanese grocery that’s now popping up all over Manhattan.
Inside the Village, there’s ramen, sushi, tonkatsu, izakaya-style snacks, and a full Japanese supermarket. It’s wild. You’ve got to go and see it.
And inside Industry City is Brooklyn Kura, an American craft sake brewery. What started as a small spot is now fully expanded thanks to a major investment from a big Japanese sake company. The taproom is legit—flights, pours, sake experiences, even classes.
Every year, on Sake no Hi, the Day of Sake (October 1st), Sen hosts a major event here. It’s one of the best sake days of the year—save this card to mark your calendar.
Between the buildings, in the alleyways, Industry City throws down. Parties, activations, wild events—including a mini Burning Man every month. Check it out for yourself.
