Our landlord wanted real, full-fat ice cream in East Hampton. That was the ask. We said yes, but how do we make it make sense as a full concept?
Ice cream goes great with burgers. Burgers go great with whiskey. So we built a place that does all three, under one roof. Smokey Buns and Scoop & Waffle
The whiskey is the smokey, the burgers are the buns, and the ice cream arm is called Scoop & Waffle.
There’s a little hallway connecting the burger side to the ice cream side. Technically two ideas, but really, it’s all one experience.
There’s no real bar in the front. You walk up to the counter to order. But our inventory lives in a liquor cage inside the restaurant, fully visible. And there’s a whiskey program that rivals anywhere on the East End.
Over 80 SKUs now, with plans to hit 100+. We’re building out whiskey tastings and fun experiences to go with it.
It’s a good way to end a great night. If you’re out late and need a juicy, end-of-the-night burger—with a hair-of-the-dog R-rated milkshake—this is the move. We’re open till 10pm, and on the weekends, you can get breakfast burgers at 9am in the morning.
The R-rated milkshakes... Whiskey blended in. It’s not really known, so you gotta ask for it. It’s epic.
We’ve got a lamb burger. A fishwich. A French onion soup-style burger with gruyère and caramelized onions on a brioche bun. Plus cheesy fries, loaded fries, and crispy fries done right.
Every day of the week, there’s a special. On Sundays, it’s the pulled pork sandwich. Juicy to the point that we’ve talked about serving it with gloves. It’s that good. The ciabatta bread was chosen because it holds. It soaks up the juices without falling apart. You bite in, and it’s like soup and sandwich all in one.
People ask for the mint chip ice cream here even when it’s freezing. Scoop & Waffle does full-fat dairy. We also make milkshakes, classic and off-menu. My go-to is an Oreo milkshake with fries. It’s totally gluttonous and totally worth it.
