By Amanda Duckstein, founder of Shadowbox Pilates:
I usually go to Ponquogue Beach — it’s right by my house. It’s kind of funny because it looks exactly like Flying Point Beach, but Ponquogue’s just more convenient for me.
Both beaches have those big, open parking lots, no volleyball courts or anything distracting. Just that wide stretch of sand and sea, which is exactly what I want when I’m trying to relax.
And then there’s Tiana’s Point, which is on the bay side, across from Tiana Beach. The water’s calmer over there, especially nice in the summer when you want something more peaceful.
That’s also where the sunset starts to shift as the season moves. Right now, it dips into the bay — but soon it’ll be back over the ocean. I like catching those small changes. It makes the same spots feel brand new.
Day parking passes are available at some Southampton beaches.
Check with the Town of Southampton (+1 631-728-8585) to see if you can purchase a tag on site or if you need to download a new parking app before arrival.
