From Elizabeth Cassone of Windswept by the Sea in Bridgehampton:
Windswept is my vibe. It's relaxed, beachy, natural — but it still has shape. Here’s how I get it for different hair types:
• Start with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.
• Use a volumizing mousse (Enjoy is my favorite) on damp hair. Apply at the roots for lift.
• Rough blow-dry for texture.
• Finish with Smart Solutions medium hold wax — rub it in lightly with your fingertips at roots and tips. Add as needed for definition without heaviness.
• I love Cantu Conditioning Curl Cream with Coconut Oil. It holds curls naturally without making them hard or crunchy, even in Hamptons humidity. It’s a steal at around $12 in any drugstore.
• Milkshake’s smoothing cream is my pick for drier or coarser hair. It hydrates and tames without leaving residue.
• Always remember Shaper Hairspray for lasting hold with memory.
• Sea Salt Spray adds natural texture, like you just came from the ocean. I like one from Miss Violet Lace on Etsy — it's beautifully natural, but keep in mind it has no stabilizer, so use it within two months or it'll go past its shelf life.
• Shampoo 2–3 times a week max. Conditioner every time you wash, but only on the tips.
• Leave-in conditioners are great for extra softness without daily shampooing.
Less is more with product. Start light — you can always add more, but you can’t take it out once it’s weighed down.
