Walk down to Gibson Beach and you’ll see it: one of the last true wildernesses left on earth. The Atlantic is wide, wild, and always waiting.
Even in the height of summer, it’s possible to find stillness here. Go early—6 or 7 a.m.—and it’s practically private. You’ll walk past a sweep of largely protected land, and save for some beachfront houses, untouched for over 10 to 12,000 years.
Skip the car and walk or bike to Gibson if you can. It can get busy there during the summer.
