From Yogeswari, a senior Jivamukti teacher and founder and president of AZAHAR Foundation:
Daily, we are bombarded with news that carries the shock value of the most recent conflict.
As soon as a new conflict emerges, we turn our attention there and forget about the previous.
Colonialism, different forms of slavery, war and genocide leave many scars, and young people who are deeply affected by direct or transgenerational trauma find their life choices limited.
At AZAHAR, we focus on rebuilding lives through the healing practices of yoga and the arts, to provide professional training and to support dignified livelihoods through our centers and partnerships in the NGO and corporate sector.
Cambodia: Expanding on our outreach into provinces and a 2-year curriculum in professional training for Yoga, Dance and supporting methodologies to build a peaceful society.
Rwanda: Expansion of free community classes at AZAHAR's Community Hub and in various NGOs working with young people and genocide survivors.
Ukraine: A retreat to provide tools for Ukrainian yoga teachers who are facing war, exile and students carrying deep trauma.
Together we can make this world a better place.
