β‘Locals know to hit Almond's world famous karaoke nights β Thursdays in summer and Saturdays during off-season β when Chef Jason and Eric have been known to grab the mic alongside regulars with DJ Carlos Llama in what has become one of the Hamptons' most entertaining sing-along experiences.
We at Almond here are a bit of a karaoke family. We had a summer pop-up down the block on Bridgehampton Turnpike. We called it Zigmundβs, my wife's last name. We did karaoke there, which was a hit. We also did it at the old Almond location when we first opened. We even had a Mexican place at one point and did karaoke there, too.
Carlos, who runs our karaoke night, is a good friend. He's Peruvian, and his wife is the director of Guild Hall. We approached him about doing karaoke β he had always come to our events but had never run one before. He was a DJ, so we figured he'd get it. And he is fabulous. During summer, karaoke moves to Thursdays because Saturdays just go too late with the dining crowd, but it's fun. It's awesome.
We don't take ourselves seriously. I mean, we take the quality of the food and service and decor seriously, but not ourselves. I think it's fun that we're a regular restaurant that can turn into a karaoke after dinner in the same room. It started as a way to provide entertainment for the local community in the off-season, and now we have a real following.
Youβll find me singing Jackson as a duet with my wife Almond. When I'm going solo, I'll sing The Weight by The Band. I can do funk, country western, anything. At the end of the day, karaoke is about getting up there and selling it, right?

This card was written by Chef Jason Weiner, who opened Almond Restaurant in 2001 with Eric Lemonides β friends since they were six and five growing up in Brooklyn. Jason honed his craft in kitchens from New York to San Francisco to Las Vegas before settling in the Hamptons with his wife Almond Zigmund, an artist whose name and art graces the restaurant. Jason, together with Eric, have built a beloved restaurant focused on local sourcing, French bistro techniques, and unpretentious hospitality that now includes L&W Market.
