Marianna Rothen is a photographer from upstate New York, who produces strong images of women - sometimes haunting, sometimes quiet, all entrancing.

Her and the Mannequins

Until recently, Rothen photographed only women. But her new work features men — or at least, what seem like men. They’re mannequins, posed so precisely they feel human. It’s eerie in the most beautiful way. You think you’re seeing something familiar, and then realize: that’s not a person.
