SARANGHAEYO means βI love youβ in Korean. And whatβs not to love about a line of 13 luxurious and elegant fragrances that are meant for men, but can also be worn by women looking for powerful and evocative scents.
SARANGHAEYO, or SRHY for short, is run by Sung Soo Kim, a former LVMH exec who has created scents that capture pivotal experiences of his life, but are nonetheless universal to us all. A road trip with a lover. The electricity of music-filled nights. A business deal closed. A vintage car driving in a foreign country. The feeling of a tailored suit in a new city. Or a stroll on a pristine beach.
These events and sensations are typically felt or remembered. Here, they can be worn as a fragrance to stir the soul, to amplify the spirit and to connect us to ourselves and the people and places around us.
Strong words, we know. And we wouldnβt have believed them ourselves. But we sat with Sung Soo in his Seoul Dongdaemun studio, intentionally situated near a flower market and a well-known center of fashion, and learned about his fragrances before inhaling each clean and rousing scent.
Days later we were still thinking about coconuts and eucalyptus, chocolate-covered dates and black pepper, flowers and amber, incense and musk. SARANGHAEYO means βI love you.β The feeling is mutual.
