From Amanda Duckstein, Founder of Shadowbox Pilates:
Flying Point is an open, beautiful stretch of beach with plenty of space.
It is right here in Water Mill, close to the Shadowbox Pilates studio, so I can pop over there for just a quick 10 minutes if I can between classes.
That's what makes it special for me — when you're teaching all day, having a beach literally minutes away is the perfect reset.
I don't always need a long beach day. Sometimes just sitting by the water for a few minutes clears my head before the next session.
That simplicity is actually what I love about it. You can find your own little spot and just be.
Over the summer, I'll host mat Pilates and sound baths at Flying Point at sunset. We gather for an hour — 30 minutes of Pilates followed by a 30-minute sound bath with crystal bowls, usually timed with the full moon. There's something magical about lying on the sand as the day ends, feeling the vibrations of the sound bowls while the waves create their own rhythm in the background.
