Cape Spartel

9 kilometers west of Tangier, Cape Spartel is where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. A lighthouse presides over panoramic cliffs, while the nearby Hercules Caves (just five minutes away) tie legend to landscape (said to be where the hero crossed into Morocco).

Inside Tip 📌

Cape Spartel is a beautiful 20-minute drive from Tangier. You go all the way up to the mountain, where you'll find a really nice cafe, an old lighthouse. a view of Spain and beautiful sunsets.

People usually go there for the sunsets. And what is really interesting is that you can see the split between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. That's where they meet -- and you can literally see the difference in the color of the water, from dark blue to lighter blue.
