On December 9, SOUK in Chelsea hosts a special 75-minute Jivamukti class led by world-renowned teacher Yogeswari.
Every dollar raised supports Sreyneang Nget, a Cambodian yoga teacher and this year’s AZAHAR Foundation scholarship recipient.
The scholarship will fund her 300-Hour Jivamukti Teacher Training, giving her the chance to deepen her practice and return home with tools that directly support her community.
The evening unfolds at SOUK, the beloved Chelsea studio whose name means “market” — a place to gather.
Known for its open-door philosophy, SOUK brings together Iyengar, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, The Shala, meditation, and philosophy under one roof.
And unlike the quick 50-minute classes that dominate the city, sessions here run long. There’s time to settle your mind, move with intention, and actually reflect before stepping back out into The Apple.
Yogeswari, founder and president of the AZAHAR Foundation, has spent years bringing yoga education and community development to regions recovering from conflict — Cambodia, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Syria, Ukraine. Sreyneang is the program’s 19th scholarship recipient, and this class directly supports her training path.
If you can’t attend in person, the AZAHAR Foundation is accepting donations through the link below.
