Ira Sachs reimagines a 1974 taped conversation between writer Linda Rosenkrantz (Rebecca Hall) and photographer Peter Hujar (Ben Whishaw).
Across one New York evening, the pair discuss art, intimacy, and encounters with contemporaries like Allen Ginsberg and Susan Sontag.
A Sideshow/Janus release, Peter Hujar’s Day is a 76-minute word-for-word exchange of an interview concerning what happened to Hujar in New York City on December 18, 1974.
The interview was only discovered some years ago in typed form, a lasting legacy of a collaborative project between the two creatives.
