Where to Surf

Me personally, I’ve got friends and family in different parts of the world, and Hawaii is one of those places I really know.

If you’re in Oahu, I always tell people—don’t go to the North Shore unless you really know what you’re doing. It’s for hardcore surfers chasing big waves. It’s very dog-eat-dog. I’ve been beat up, robbed, thrown out of spots. It’s not for the faint of heart.

Instead, go to the South Shore. Surf Waikiki. There are a bunch of great surf schools all along that bank—pretty much can’t go wrong. They're all run by locals.

I always recommend the Moniz camp. The Moniz family is local royalty—generations deep. They’ll get you in the right spot at the right time for sure.

What I Eat There

When I’m in Hawaii I go crazy for Poke Bowls, especially from Foodland.

Foodland is like Hawaii’s version of King Kullen or a big supermarket, but they have this prepared food section that’s top-notch. Best Poke.

I’m a huge fan of raw tuna so I’m living on that while I’m there.

I also eat a lot of Acai — those special berries from Brazil. You can get them at Foodland or from the little shacks along the beach.

Inside Tip 📌

When I’m there, I just Airbnb it. I used to live on the North Shore for eight months. It's beautiful, but intense. For most people, I say stay closer to Waikiki if you're going for surf lessons and an easier vibe.
