A Nice Ring

We’ve loved The Bell & Anchor for what feels like forever. It was one of my grandmother’s favorites, and we used to go often when I was younger. She passed in 2015, and after that, it just kind of fell out of our rotation — not for any sad reason, it just happened.

Then in the spring of 2023, when I was pregnant with Willow, we started going again. My midwife mentioned how much she loved the place, and it clicked — we hadn’t been in so long. So we went. And since then, I’ve completely rekindled my love for it.

The staff is so lovely. The food is fresh, consistent, and delicious. We’ve honestly never had a bad meal there.

What We Order

We always get the same few things. The roasted portobello with this caper cheese sauce and roasted peppers — it’s incredible. You'll definitely consider licking the plate.

I love calamari, and they do a Fritto Misto with shrimp, calamari, and clams, plus a delicious aioli. We always order the local catch — whatever’s fresh that day. Sometimes it’s fluke, flounder, halibut… always moist, flavorful, beautifully done.

And we love that they carry great oysters, too.

Family Ties

I grew up with the owner’s daughter, Lucy. The owner knows my mom, and the host, Max, is friends with my husband.

They’ve seen it all — from me pregnant with Willow, to us showing up with a tiny baby, to now. Willow’s two. And now I’m pregnant again. It really feels like a full-circle, family affair.
