Our plum tart is one of those desserts that really feels like family to me.
It’s a recipe my grandmother developed, and it’s special not just for us but for so many of our customers. I’ve had German customers tell me it tastes like home.
We only use Italian prune plums. They’re small, incredibly flavorful, but tricky to find fresh all year. So we work with a purveyor who flash-freezes them at peak ripeness so we can have them year-round without losing any of that taste.
The tart itself is straightforward but carefully made. We use our house-made crust with just enough crumb to soak up the plum juices so every slice holds its shape. As it bakes, those little plums line up like soldiers, softening into this rich, gorgeous layer that cuts clean and tastes full without feeling heavy.
It’s especially good paired with our house-made vanilla or Cappuccino Crunch ice cream. It’s the kind of dessert that feels like a memory in every bite.
