From Robin of Alpina Swiss Bakery and the Green Hill Restaurant Group:
If it’s your first time at Alpina, I’m pulling you aside and telling you what to order: Zürcher Geschnetzeltes. It’s veal, thinly sliced, in a creamy mushroom sauce served over rösti.
Ours is the real deal. We try to do it just like they do at Kronenhalle, that legendary old-school spot near the lake in Zurich. Kronenhalle’s is truly authentic—grand dining room, old-world service, and the kind of place where you have to get this dish. But until you make it to Zurich or in between your Zurich trips, we bring that magic here to the North Fork.
Ask us how to pronounce Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (TSUR-kher geh-SHNET-sell-tess). Or you can say “Émincé de Veau” (ay-MAN-say duh voh) – that’s the French name. Or you can ask for "the veal in cream sauce.” 🙂
No matter how you say it, you’re in for something authentic and hard to find outside Switzerland. 🍽️
