Cristen Motty, co-creator of the Off Hampton Film Festival and co-owner of Hampton Photo Arts, lets us in on her favorite spots:
The beaches in Hampton Bays and East Quogue are amazing for its fewer crowds, where we don't compete with others for space.
The second we cross Ponquogue Bridge, we're immediately immersed in our favorite local escape. From the bridge, we see people clamming below us, fishermen casting their lines.
The moment we cross that bridge and head down Dune Road, we feel like we're embarking on a vacation within our own community.
When we come back over that bridge again and see the whole expanse – after leaving the beach as the sun sets – it provides the perfect ending to our day.
Day beach passes are available at Ponquogue Beach and Tiana Beach in Hampton Bays.
But if you’re up for a bit of a walk, try the far end of Hot Dog Beach in East Quogue.
Without lifeguards, this area attracts fewer families and creates an even more peaceful environment.
