This museum is worth seeing if you're interested in Picasso—it focuses on his early works, mostly prior to 1917. He had a very long and prolific career and this is a rather interesting way to see some of his art that is less well-known, and learn a bit about his formative experiences and what path led to his subsequent achievements.
Another reason this museum is worth seeing is its location—the art collection is housed in five adjacent medieval palaces in Barcelona's Old City, and it's utterly beautiful.
And a third reason to see it is because it contains a series of paintings from 1957 collectively called Las Meninas, inspired by and reinterpreting Velázquez’s masterwork of the same title. Picasso himself donated the work in its entirety (58 paintings in all); it's the only complete series by the artist that remains on display together. (To see Velázquez’s original, you'll have to go to the Prado in Madrid, but there's a reproduction here so you can see the origin of this project.)
There's also a delightful little book and gift shop if you'd like to pick up a print, or a postcard, or a book about the artist. Enjoy!
