Teaching wine is the hardest part of the job. But this helps. It’s visual, it’s smart, it’s not dumbed down. I buy a copy for everyone. It’s our textbook.

How We Use It

I pair it with daily tests. I’ve got my own notebook too — a grape glossary. But this book lays it out: by varietal, by region, or both. The maps are great — California, Italy and France. You’ve got Greece, Hungary, South Africa, all in there, too. Even label-reading tips. You learn to read a bottle and know what it means — dark, inky, tannic, all of it.
