Cristen Motty, co-creator of the Off Hampton Film Festival and co-owner of Hampton Photo Arts, lets us in on her favorite places.
Tripoli Gallery stands apart from typical Hamptons venues with its deliberately casual environment. Forgoing the clinical white-box approach, itâs a spacious gallery that creates a laid-back setting that complements its beachy, surf-influenced aesthetic and encourages direct engagement with the artwork.
Founder Tripoli Patterson's surfing background shapes both the physical space and curatorial choices. The gallery's exhibitions feel less constrained by traditional conventions, as evidenced by a recent show integrating living sculptures â including indoor trees â with wall-mounted work.
Tripoli balances established names with emerging local talent, showcasing East End creators who might otherwise struggle for visibility. This commitment has established the gallery as an important platform for artists working outside mainstream recognition.
