Chef Jason Weiner has been at the helm of Almond restaurant since 2001, when he opened the Bridgehampton institution with longtime friend and front-of-house partner Eric Lemonides.
Below, Jason reveals a few of his special spots when heās not working at Almond.
Have you been to Louse Point? The awesome thing about it is you get a legitimate sunset, which you can't really get in most places out here. Because of the way it's positioned and which direction it's facing, you see the sun go down over the water. The summers are always busy, but we try to get out there as much as we can to catch the sunset.
I live in the Northwest Woods, so all those bike trails around Two Holes of Water or down to Cedar Point are things I try to keep in my life for sanity, especially in the summer and this time of year, too. It's always nice to see some turtles crossing the path, which is fun.
Colin Ambrose at Estia's does the best brunch. He really cares, and the crew that's been with him has been there forever. They know us, and we know them. I actually originally met Colin in San Francisco around 1991-92 before he was getting ready to open Estia's. Then we moved back here in 2001 and reconnected.
Estia's food is super straightforward and just delicious. Colin grows kiwis in the backyard and gives them to us ā we use them for bulgogi marinade. Everything's connected out here.
I usually get one of his omelets or breakfast burritos. Sometimes he has a skirt steak special for brunch, like a skirt steak and eggs. If that's on the menu, I'll grab that. His hot sauces are different from ours ā they're traditional Mexican style with vinegar, salt, and sometimes roasted tomatillo for body.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Jason honed his craft in kitchens from New York to San Francisco to Las Vegas before settling in the Hamptons with his wife Almond Zigmund, an artist whose name graces Almond restaurant. Together with Eric, they've built a beloved restaurant focused on local sourcing, French bistro techniques, and unpretentious hospitality that now includes the L&W Market next door.
