The Perfect Local Getaway

Honestly, I barely leave Sag Harbor, but for the summer, we definitely make it a point to hit sunset at Long Beach.

For years, it's been really fun to meet a bunch of families there for sunset. We'll usually try to get there by four, and the kids swim while everyone brings something for a potluck. Our go-to contributions are fried chicken from Cromer's or we'll grab pizzas from Sag Pizza and pick up beer from Kidd Squid. 

It's always an easy night and so much fun - we'll stay until the sun goes down. If you show up, there's always a crew.

Inside Tip 🪄

Since the kids were little, every Friday we meet there right from school. Anyone who can go does go, and it's just the dream. 

We can get pizzas delivered there, and we always say how lucky we are to be able to have pizzas delivered from our local pizza place straight to the beach. 

The kids stay swimming, then the ice cream man comes (see a very special insider card below), and they have their ice cream. 

Sometimes we go home at 9 o'clock, with the children having been swimming and out in the sun all day. 

We really stretch this tradition out until October, trying to extend the season as long as possible because it's just the most special thing.
