By Kyle Fengler, co-owner of Loaves & Fishes and Bridgehampton Inn & Restaurant, in his own words:
The Bridgehampton Inn was built in 1795 by the Corwiths, one of the Hamptons’ original farming families. By 1993, the house had been out of use for years when we found it. My grandfather, a Sag Harbor mason known for restoring old homes, led the transformation. He kept the building’s original soul intact, changing as little as possible. That same year, we purchased, renovated, and opened the inn.
There are 12 rooms—six in the old house, six in our newer addition built during the restaurant and Cookshop expansion. Each room has its own character, with a distinctly European touch throughout.
Many of the rooms feature watercolors painted by my grandfather—landscapes, portraits, and nature scenes inspired by the Hamptons.
We offer queen and king rooms, plus two suites. Room 3 has the only fireplace (now gas); Room 7 is especially bright, anchored by a stunning iris painting. Room 15 is fully wheelchair accessible and has the largest bathroom.
Holiday weekends book fast. Many of our guests rebook the same weekend each year as they check out. The 4th of July and Labor Day are our quickest to fill, along with major events like the Hampton Classic and the Bridge Club’s car show. Plan early.
