Drop in anytime between 2 and 4 PM, view the exhibition, talk with the artist, and enjoy light refreshments.

It’s a great opportunity to spend time with an artist who has helped shape the East End arts community for decades.

Inside the Exhibition

Cross’s newest paintings feel vibrant, mysterious, and quietly dreamlike — symbolic objects and floating forms set against atmospheric interiors and shifting landscapes.

The work lives in that space between the familiar and the uncanny, exploring renewal, uncertainty, and the meaning we make from in-between moments.

Why It Matters

The exhibition title, Going Through and Not Around, gets at Cross’s central idea: facing what’s in front of us rather than avoiding it. It’s a thread that runs through the entire show, giving each piece its emotional weight.

About the Artist

Jennifer Cross has long been a part of the East End arts ecosystem — exhibiting everywhere from 1980s Soho galleries to today’s cultural institutions, while also serving as Director of the East Hampton Center for Contemporary Art (1985–1990).

Her work is held in the permanent collections of Guild Hall Museum and the Islip Museum of Art, and she has received support from the Ford Foundation, Jerome Foundation, and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
