Music is definitely a big part of people’s experience at Rosie's. A lot of times, it’s the anchor that we build nights — or days — around.
Part of why Rosie’s became a destination for music is a combination of things. A lot of the core team has had relationships with Nick Kraus and the Stephen Talkhouse crew for years, even before we worked in Amagansett. So we’ve always had that connection.
And being right next to the InnerSleeve record shop helps too. Between them and the Talkhouse, music just naturally runs through Main Street.
We've already kicked off the season as of May 19. Sebastian – the son of Rosie’s owner – he’s a killer jazz pianist. He and his friends play here every Monday night in the summer. These are kids who play at Smalls in the city on weekends. It’s the real deal.
We try to introduce local artists too— like Gian Carlo Feleppa and his band Student Body. Gian Carlo can play the sitar at yoga in the morning and then absolutely kill it with rock and roll at night.
We rotate DJs here, too. It’s always changing — word of mouth, friends' recommendations. Sometimes customers tell us their kids are DJs at school, and when they’re back for the summer, we put them on the calendar. Same way we handle artist collaborations — we’re always open to trying to incorporate talent into the mix.
The best way to skip the line is to eat dinner at Rosie’s. You get a table, you see the shift happen, and you’re already inside when the music kicks off. That’s the magic.
